SIGHT : SPICE GARDEN IN MAWANELLA
Take an informative half-an-hour brief excursion in a spice garden in Mawanella. Gain an insight into how spices that you have used to flavor you food at home, and many other tropical herbs that you have known or heard of, are grown.
SIGHT : GERAGAMA TEA ESTATE & FACTORY
Next, tour the Geragama Tea Factory in Pilimathalawa, a town located on the outskirts of Kandy. Learn how tea is made – from freshly picked green leaves to being sorted, withered, fermented, dried and ground up. And learn the varieties and their differences in taste. Enjoy a free and refreshing cup of Ceylon Tea before moving on.
SIGHTS : KANDY CITY TOUR
On reaching Kandy, which is a UNESCO heritage city, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic. The temple is the most revered Buddhist shrine in the island and houses a tooth relic of the Lord Buddha. Visit the Upper-Lake Drive from where you will catch a panoramic view of the city. Hop on a boat for a joyful ride on the man-made Kandy Lake that offers great views of the old part of the town and the over a century and a half old Queens Hotel in the backdrop of Udawatta Kele forest reserve. Leave some time to browse through fabulous souvenir stores before heading back to Colombo.
