About Tissamaharama

Tissamaharama, or 'Tissa' for short, is the traditional pilgrimage town and safari base for Yala and Bundala. Its centrepiece is the great white Tissamaharama Dagoba, one of the largest ancient stupas outside the Cultural Triangle, and its network of ancient tanks still supports rice farming today.
