Abhayagiri Dagoba
Built in the 1st century BC by King Vattagamini, Abhayagiri was one of the largest monastic universities in the ancient Buddhist world, home to 5,000 monks. Its restored dagoba rises out of a sprawling complex of monastic ruins, refectories and bathing pools.
