Aluvihara Rock Cave Temple
A cluster of caves tucked among giant boulders, Aluvihara was where 500 monks first inscribed the Buddha's oral teachings onto ola-leaf manuscripts in the 1st century BC. The vividly painted caves and living ola-leaf workshop are still active.
