Built to commemorate independence from British rule in 1948, the open-pillared Independence Memorial Hall sits in the heart of leafy Cinnamon Gardens. The adjoining arcade hosts boutique shops, coffee houses and the Independence Square jogging track — a snapshot of modern Colombo life.
