Climb a spiral staircase off the main path to view the famous Sigiriya frescoes — 21 surviving paintings of celestial maidens with full-colour pigment after fifteen centuries. The polished mirror wall below once reflected the king's procession; ancient graffiti is still scratched into the surface.
